Sail Away

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." - Mark Twain

Early this year I bought a sturdy notebook from Coles and took it home with me. I had it lay on my desk, and I stared at it a few moments, opened it up to its first blank page and wrote this quote by hand. I knew what this notebook was going to be used for when I purchased it. It was a notebook that was going to get me closer, a notebook that was going to help me chase what I wanted. Right now, the notebook is more than half full, and I could not be happier with what it contains. After logging whatever it is I fill up the pages with, and I turn back to the first page, I can't help but be more inspired by this quote.

Learning to Appreciate

How beautiful is nature. When we were younger, our parents(my dad is particular) were avid about taking their children and spending time off to go on road trips. As kids, we did multiple trips across the Canadian prairies, and even a trip to Alaska. Of course being young, we didn't appreciate or know how priceless some of scenic views really were. I guess like for most people, getting older has meant beginning to appreciate more.

Port Moody Perspective

Yesterday was a break from the gloomy weather Vancouver has been having, so after work, I made a point to go about and enjoy nature while the sun was still out. Green is so beautiful.

Beer around the world

This poster at the thrift store teaches how to order beer around the world. My brother and I were laughing and making jokes on the Korean pronunciation they stuck on there. I love beer. Sometimes there really is nothing better than a beer-and-a-burger :)

some inspiration your way

"I always did something that I was a little not ready to do. I think that, that is how you grow. When there's a moment of 'Wow, I'm not sure I can do this, and you push through those moments, it's then that you have a breakthrough. Sometimes that's a sign that something really great is about to happen. You're about to grow and learn a lot more about yourself." - Marissa Mayer, CEO of Yahoo

There is always fear when you don't feel ready to do something. I particularly like this quote because the past few years have been 'doing things I'm not all ready for yet', and the outcome has been quite lovely. And yeah, you do learn something about yourself, every time.

...doing something you feel you're not entirely ready for, you may be pleasantly surprised.

An errand kind of day

Today I was out and about running some errands. Ended up finding a couple cute pieces of decor while thrifting. I've been meaning to build a terrarium, but it's quite difficult finding the right combination of plants to put together.

Pears

I have these pear trees that grow in the backyard. Now that it's September, I am determined to pick a good batch before the black bears have more than their share.

Indian Cuisine

Chicken Korma
Tonight, a couple of my close friends and I decided it was brown night so we made it a point to meet at our go-to Indian restaurant. We had Paneer Makhani, Butter Chicken, Chicken Korma, and Garlic Naan. If you have yet to try Indian cuisine, I would recommend any one of those or all of those! They were all so delicious.

My new camera has arrived, I just need to go pick it up from the post office tomorrow. I am beyond excited.

Campfire Hair

So during the North Coast Trail, everyday after hours of hiking, we would set camp on the beach and build our fire to make our dinner/stay warm etc. The smell of campfire locked into my hair for at least a week after being back at home. The scent would fade throughout the day, but I'd hop into a hot shower the next morning and there it was again! Frankly, I didn't mind it lingering so much as I did-and still do miss the crackling fire. Campfires are quite lovely. I'd say it's always my favourite part about camping.

Australia

World map I have posted on my wall.
I genuinely love where I live and feel lucky to call Canada my home. However, when summer folds, I can't help but yearn for somewhere warmer.

Inspiration

My friend's Border Collie pup
"You should bring something into the world that wasn't in the world before. It doesn't matter what it is. It doesn't matter if it's a table or a film or gardening - everyone should create. You should do something, then sit back and say, "I did that." - Ricky Gervais
